Hello, Manolis. You recently contributed a poem to the #PoetsforPeace collaboration. An online magazine liked the spirit of the collaboration, and asked to publish it. We need your permission to include your poem.
To give permission, please email: mzanemcclellan@outlook.com your name, and general location (city/state/country) and the ok. You can also leave it in comments on my blog, or tweet me @InZanesBrain or comment on ForgottenMeadows.com where the collaboration was compiled

Thank you for finding my poetry and deciding to follow its little pathways. I am enjoying the wonderful Greek poetry available here, very much, as well as feeling connected as a British Greek – although I aim to transcend borders and labels, I feel that one can only do this truthfully if one can also recognise one’s cultural roots as well as the particular position one occupies historically and socially. Best wishes, Katerina.

Thank you, dear Katerina. I’m glad we have met. I enjoyed the few poems of yours I read. I hope to visit your site often and enjoy your verses. Be well. I appreciate your comment. You are in England?

Thanks for your response, I’m also very pleased we have met. Yes, I am in England. I was born in London, my father is from Cyprus and my mother from Ikaria. Growing up I felt foreign in both Greece as well as England – and this is a position many others have felt too, I imagine. In Ikaria, somehow, there was a meeting point.. and now that I am much older, I can appreciate this in a less anguished and self centred way – I hope. I wish to explore this, since we also carry our parents journeys, their burdens and prayers; it is formative to identity and score’s our psyche as individuals and collectively. Whether I do such ideas justice through my verses, well, I will try..! Be well too, and best wishes.

Most interesting, Katerina. I’m from Crete, west of Chania, came to this country when I was 26. Most of my life in Canada, I have two sons, 42 and 37 and two grand daughters, Orianthi (2 years old) and Zoe (7 year old). I enjoy writing, I think I’ve been writing all my life. You can find all about me in http://www.manolisaligizakis.com. I find your poetry mature and deep thought, which I enjoy the most. I promise to visit your blog often. Please keep in touch. THANK YOU.
