σφαλίσεις;
UNNOTICED DEATHS
Fragile, beautiful objects – crystals, porcelains, some gold
or silver
gifts from friends or honorary awards – trophies of decorous competitions
we never expected recognition for. We enjoyed them so much, back then
we paid much attention to them and placed them (with some hesitation
really) in appropriate positions – not so conspicuous. Sometimes at night,
when the lights came on in the opposite bar, we showed them
to two-three friends the most trustworthy (if such truly exist). As the years
went by, they multiplied – a true headache – where can one put them, how
can one secure them
and the dust, the smoke, the dampness, the habit. They got forgotten
in carton boxes in the attic, in burlap sacks wrapped in
old heroic newspapers. Nevertheless, at night, from time to time
you hear a din, and again a din, as they nudge each other
like glass bells on the deaths of young forgotten girls.
